Law on protected areas/ Rama, a "slap" to the opposition and MEPs

Prime Minister Edi Rama, during a meeting with the SP group and the government, gave a "slap" to the opposition and MEPs regarding the law on protected areas.

"In a decade, we have made a historic upheaval for flora and fauna with undeniable results. We made the law integrated with the EU for protected areas and significantly expanded their surface area, increased the category of protection and transformed it from a sporadic call into a system. The 2024 amendments to that law were used relentlessly to stoke the flames of protest, political agents included some MEPs who at best did not read it or at worst wanted to believe the case. Those amendments were made in accordance with the European directive. Fortunately, it is not my word against their word, but there is a process where they will be scanned one by one with the European Commission to comply 100% with the EU directive. This complicated conflict will be resolved beautifully by the EU directives", said Rama./ CNA
