The return of the remains of Qazim Mullet/ Berisha: Civil act, well-deserved

Descendant of one of the most popular families of Tirana, well-known intellectual and patriot, Qazim Mulleti from his youth and continued to participate and played an active role in all major national events. As a young man, he was active in the Independence of Albania, represented Tirana in the Congress of Lushnja, participated as an important official in various functions in the Albanian governments of the 20s.

Qazim Mulleti was a staunch anti-communist during the years of occupation, contrary to his and his family's patriotic role and attitudes, Mulleti accepted the appointment of Mayor and then Prefect of Tirana. But he managed, although in the wrong place and at the wrong time, to gain the respect of the citizens of Tirana and together with other high officials of the time, protected the Jews from the Nazi prey. After the war, Qazim Mulleti lived in Rome, a political asylum, as an opponent of the communist dictatorship. Due to the good reputation it had among the citizens of Tirana, Enver Hoxha's regime pitted against it the calligraphers who glorified evil with their pen and glorified the butchery of the class war.

Thus, in addition to the ordeal they experienced in the concentration camps, his honorable family members were subjected to an unparalleled public psychological terror throughout the years of the dictatorship with the infamous comedy "The Prefect".

The return of Qazim Mullet's remains to the city he served with honesty and devotion was a civil and just act, but equally a well-deserved consolation and apology for his noble family members. #sb/ CNA
