Vice President Jorida Tabaku has rejected the leadership of the Democratic Party.

At the meeting of the Presidency of the DP of vula, Tabaku mentioned the clashes, the division of the democrats and the proposal of Lulzim Basha to be the acting president after she resigned.

But she says that just like in 2022, this time too she has decided to reject the proposal to be the commanding leader of the Democratic Party.

The deputy proposed 5 points for the revival of the DP.

Specifically, Tabaku asked for the establishment of a leadership group with 3 experienced people, the opening of the analysis process and the start of a discussion about the mistakes, the digitalization and modernization of the PD, the appointment of 12 leaders for all 12 districts and the agreement with a process to promote old and young people with integrity and meritocracy.

First let me thank Mr. Alibeaj for the work and the load he carried during the last year. He has carried a great weight of attack, mud that should be respected and thanked.

The last year has not been easy for many of us and the situation in the Democratic Party has simultaneously affected the work in parliament and especially in the field. The scuffle and crash from above came down to the ground giving us glimpses of a tragic and shameful clash.

Not only that, but for a year each of us with a hierarchy of position and public attention, i.e. who more and who less, became a target of slander, ridicule, slander and humiliation just because he consciously decided to take a different stance . All this influenced the general spirit and atmosphere of a political struggle, the product of which is the situation we see today.

I have talked for the last two weeks with fellow MPs of the parliamentary group, former MPs and sympathizers of the Democratic Party. They are an important part of the path that I think we should follow. And I think so because at the end of the day the deputy is a political person with electoral weight who is obviously an important voice to be heard.

From all these discussions that I have had during these last two weeks, what I understood was the failure of this political force to really face the results of the elections, always.

When I say face-off, I don't mean a party convention that meets and has a shooting board and assigns some blame that always goes to our opponent. But, I am talking about a confrontation as befits a political force with the vote of the citizens in every box and why not with the strategy followed.

This, I think, has thrown us beyond our inability to change, to reflect and to adapt to what people are looking for today. Even to move the appropriate mechanisms of our political force to get the maximum.

Not participating in the 2019 elections, leaving the parliament, not functioning properly on the ground, engaging in revolutions and promises that were actually intended to raise the morale of our base but which brought us even greater losses. Whereas, unfortunately, after 2021 we spent our time on an internal battle, but this is not so much our fault, more than a sometimes unwanted response to those who thought they could win by insulting us. But, as these elections proved, nobody likes a political force that screams in opposition and cannot offer an alternative.

Given these ongoing mistakes, which have planted a culture of impotence and (undeserved) defeat among the Democrats, I think and believe that we should try, at least this time around, to do things differently. We tried this path several times and the result was as disastrous as Shkodra that endured and 2019 today is no longer ours.

Added to this is the internal war that has disintegrated and crumbled us almost completely. Maybe we got away with this result this time. But, this is no guarantee to continue the same.

Therefore, it is we who must change and have a different approach to be hope for Albanians and democrats. In short, to be the alternative of a majority that today voted with the silence of non-voting.

A year ago, Mr. Basha proposed to me that after his resignation, I would take the role of the appointed chairman of the DP. An opportunity I turned down! I bring to your attention this event that maybe few people know, to highlight the fact that I am not looking today for something from my personal plight or an ambition carefully hidden there. On the contrary, my goal is to get out of this quagmire where our political strength has fallen.

I have had a position in the Democratic Party since September 2021, as deputy chairman of the party, and I believe we all understand how easy it has been in the situation where we are operating. I have worked and contributed a lot, I thought that the position does not give you importance but the work does and maybe with an excessive modesty I contributed a lot without pretending anything.

There is nothing wrong with having ambitions in politics, it is human, but in the situation we are in, I believe that the common interest prevails more than the personal one, and for this reason:

I have decided not to accept the proposal of Mr. Bardhi for the commanding leadership of the Democratic Party.

But as long as I'm here I want to give the Democrats a real process, and an opportunity to unite that I think is important as well as a reorganization process for a modern political force. For this reason I propose:

1. The establishment of a leadership group with 3 experienced people who will lead the Democratic Party to the elections from the bottom up. This should also include a re-membership process, given the real situation in which DP is today. Today, nobody knows the real membership of the Democratic Party, and I cannot accept you telling me that the membership is complete.

2. Opening the analysis process and starting a discussion with the democrats about where and what we did wrong. And here I mean a real political analysis with each box to understand the lost potential and what we can regain. Also to provide real opportunities for grassroots union through a process of reflection as we cannot be open with some; but the union with all those democrats who for 10 years are tired of being losers, it is unforgivable and unfair to repeat March 6 and May 14.

3. Digitization and modernization, aiming to transform it into a capillary from an electoral political force that we have been these years. The spread of the Democratic Party among young women and young men by revitalizing and reviewing the improvement of structures such as FRPD, LDG and more.

4. Appointment of 12 leaders for all 12 districts who will start work in the field and will be in support of the temporary leadership group.

5. Agreeing to a process that will honor us, to promote old and new people with integrity, with meritocracy, without schemes and intrigues, and we will give real time to the democrats to judge about the future. / CNA.al
