DENUNCIATION: The Ministry of Agriculture hid the analysis data for pesticides
Grigels Muçollari

The member of the leadership of the DP, Grigels Muçollari, denounced on Friday that the Rama government has hidden data on food analysis.

According to him, in the middle of last year, according to a project supported by the European Commission, this ministry ordered the analysis of 200 samples related to our main products, especially to ascertain the effect of the pesticides that were used.

Muçollari emphasized that even though, according to reliable data, this monitoring ended in October last year, no results have been made known and there is no transparency.

He also underlines that the Ministry of Agriculture has hidden the data obtained from this monitoring.

Full statement:

Food security is a missing standard for the country's citizens. Dangerous products with heavy costs for health have systematically entered our country.

This issue is alarming, a danger to society and a threat to national security.

For weeks we have made public several concrete cases where the AKU, the government agency that is supposed to protect citizens from harmful foods, is not doing its job, either due to incompetence or corruption.

The Ministry behind me, that of Agriculture, has the moral, political and legal responsibility for food security.  There are some norms, some standards, some guarantees that only the government with the funds and instruments at its disposal can offer.  This also applies to domestic production, in addition to imported ones.

In the middle of last year, according to a project supported by the European Commission, this ministry ordered the analysis of 200 samples related to our main products (order no. 365 dated 19/06/2023), especially for ascertain the effect of pesticides that have been used, pesticides often banned in the EU, or even expired.

This study would help not only the consumer, but also our farmer, as there have been many cases where farmers have been harmed due to the prohibited pesticides being traded.
Although, according to reliable data, this monitoring ended in October last year, no results have been made known and there is no transparency.

The Ministry of Agriculture has hidden the data from this monitoring.  Why the Ministry, why Mrs. Krifca and then Mrs. Denaj, don't they make these data public?  Why is this report not shared with the public, citizens and farmers?  Have unknown and harmful, toxic pesticide ingredients been found in these products?  What is Edi Rama's government hiding?
It keeps secret the failure to control the pesticides and other substances that are imported as in the inn without gates?!

Is the government hiding its failure to guarantee food safety, to protect citizens and our producers?!
Hiding these findings does not help anyone, on the contrary, it endangers the lives of citizens who do not have information.

It cannot even save the image of the government, already confirmed as having failed in providing food security.
We call on Ms. Denaj to be transparent and not treat agriculture as her own field, but as a matter of public responsibility.

We will insist every day that those who have an obligation to provide food security do their job. And those who did not do the work and did not fulfill the legal obligation, should be held accountable before the justice./ CNA
