The Greek veto, Hasani: We have discreet negotiations with Greece

Foreign Minister Igli Hasani held a conference with journalists on Thursday, where among the issues he touched upon was the neighboring relationship between Albania and Greece.

Recently, the Hellenic state has threatened Albania that it will prevent its membership in the EU, due to the "Beleri" case.

Minister Hasani said that he is working with Greece in order not to hinder Albania in opening the negotiations of the first chapter. Hasani added that several topics were opened at the same time and are being discussed. According to him, the talks are discreet.

As for the issue of recognizing pensions, Hasani said that it is a difficult procedure, because Albanians in Greece have changed their names.

The minister previously announced that a new structure will be set up in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs where the focus will be on the Albanians of the region.

Hasani said that the negotiating group is working so that political obstacles do not interfere with the technical agenda./CNA
