"Blocked negotiations for 8 years"/ Bulgaria responds harshly to Rama:

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria has shared its position regarding the statements of Prime Minister Edi Rama, who in one of his articles stated that Bulgaria blocked the beginning of negotiations for Albania's EU membership for eight years.

" Regarding the new, unprovoked, successive anti-Bulgarian statements of the Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama during the Bled Forum on August 29-30 of this year, based on the false statement that Bulgaria blocked the start of Albania's accession negotiations for 8 years in the EU. The MFA firmly rejects his suggestions as unacceptable and inappropriate for the behavior of a prime minister of a candidate country for EU membership.

The Foreign Ministry has already expressed its position regarding the anti-Bulgarian rhetoric of Edi Rama, which has become a permanent refrain of his political speech. Now it is combined with an anti-European focus and an attempt to humiliate the mechanisms of the European process. The statements reveal misunderstandings about the political meaning of the process of establishing relations in the region on European tracks. Of course, it is either a lack of European communication skills or a deliberate incitement of anti-European sentiments.
