"Buying apartments like a forbidden apple"/ Berisha: We are changing

The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, stated today that Albania needs a new taxation system in several areas. During a press conference at the DP headquarters, Berisha shared part of the plan to reduce housing prices.

Berisha said that buying apartments has become a forbidden apple for Albanians, which according to him is due to the change in a series of taxes, which he promised and will change.

Berisha said that he will also make some changes to other taxes, such as changing the flat tax, the ceiling for small businesses, and the VAT rate.

Berisha added that all these high taxes that exist today are falling on the citizens' expense.

"Production is falling year after year and unstoppably. In addition to the legal guarantees of the fiscal code, which will be approved in the first 3 months and cannot be changed during the 4 years of the mandate.

The number of different tax brackets will be reduced. The minimum wage will not be taxed.

The flat tax will be 10%. The ceiling will be at 0 for small businesses. The exemption limit is 18 million lek. VAT will be reduced to 15%.

The infrastructure impact tax is reduced from 8% to 2% of the budget. The fundamental cause of the stratospheric prices in construction are the taxes per square meter, which are at least 10 times the previous tax. All this is billed to citizens, making it impossible for them to buy.

This turns buying apartments into a forbidden apple and radically changes the situation.

The 3% social housing tax on the sale price will be abolished. The 1% development permit fee on the investment value will be abolished. The property revaluation fee is reduced from 1 to 5%”, said Berisha. /CNA
