Berisha: Albania's pensions equal to what a German pays for a dog

The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, spoke during the presentation of the social program for the years 2025-2029.

During his speech, the leader of the Democrat Party focused on the issue of pensions, which he said are the lowest in the region. The leader of the Democrat Party compared pensions in the country to the payment that Germany makes for pets.
 

" I can give you a lot of other figures. But what happened? It happened that pensioners, who in 2013 received an average pension of 145 thousand lek, today receive 160 thousand. At that time, they received more than all the countries in the region. Today, the pension in Montenegro is 450 euros. Today, in Macedonia it is 400 euros. In Serbia over 400 euros. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, 300 or so euros.

In Kosovo, 190 euros.  So, in Albania 160 euros. But, if we compare the two periods, prices in Albania in the years 2005-2013, in relation to prices in the EU, not only did not follow their trend, but in relation to those prices, prices in Albania fell. Meanwhile, in these years, food prices in relation to prices in the EU, have increased by 30 percent.

So, Albania with stratospheric prices and pensions almost equal to what a German pays for a pet dog. Germans pay 130 euros for a pet, for a dog. Was this an opportunity? This is never an opportunity ," Berisha said./ CNA
