President Bajram Begaj received today the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, Andrej Plenkovic, who is in Tirana to participate in the EU-Western Balkans Summit.  

Begaj appreciated the very good and traditionally friendly relations between the two countries as well as the very special role that the Albanian diaspora has played and plays in Croatia, referring to the old diaspora of the Arbanas of Zara as "a common pride".  

Regarding the close partnership in NATO, the Head of State appreciated the joint journey of the two countries, which today contribute with all their political and diplomatic capacities to guarantee peace and security in the Western Balkans region.

The President appreciated the support that Croatia has given and is giving to Albania and the enlargement process, adding that "the organization of the EU-Western Balkans Summit in Tirana is the best message for this support".

The two interlocutors also touched on the latest developments in the Western Balkans region, underlining the necessity of continuing the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, as well as the impact of the escalation of Russian military aggression in Ukraine on peace and stability in our region./ CNA .co.uk
