Basha admits that he has never been president

The chairman without a party, Luli Basha, has admitted that he was never the chairman of the DP, as Sali Berisha always stood behind him behind the scenes and the structures did not obey him without the permission of the leader of the opposition.

In an interview for "MCN TV", Basha stated that nothing is done without Berisha's approval.

"He is talking about dualism. First of all, in 2013 there was a leadership transition, which as a rule should also bring a generational transition, but it was not complete in the sense that the predecessor was not one of the leaders, but the founder and central figure of the DP and Albania, former president, former prime minister, historical figure.

Such transitions mean that when you resign, you leave the stage, maybe you stay behind the scenes, at parties, when there are crises, I mean the Western models.

His position in Parliament and the active role he held were seen by some of the people close to me as something harmful to the consolidation of the new leadership.

On the other hand, some of the people close to me were aware that the transition from Berisha's iron-handed leadership required a gradual process.

It was not only Berisha, the entire parliamentary group, the entire cabinet of Mr. Berisha, so the generational transition had not happened, except at the highest level.

The structures were people who were used to the permission of the 'Marshal', so it was a culture that was used to operate with absolute centralism and a lack of initiative.
