"This case must be investigated and it needs to be investigated in a cell."

This is what former president Bamir Topi declared, as he spoke about Gerti Shehu's punch to the DP chairman, Sali Berisha, right at the beginning of today's protest.

Topi condemned the attack on the "Frontline" show, while declaring that this event is an "alarm bell", after emphasizing that it looks like a dangerous precedent.

 “E rëndë dhe e shëmtuar akti ndaj Berishës. Fatmirësisht mbeti aty sepse në një situatë të tillë një i ri fizikisht i fortë mund të kalonte shumë keq situata. Por la një shije shumë të hidhur. Kjo tregon që në këtë shoqërinë tonë pavarësisht asaj që thuhet rreth personalitetit të njeriut që goditi Berishën, shumë gjëra në këtë shoqëri janë çoroditur e tjetërsuar.

E dënoj këtë akt dhune dhe në rastin specifik edhe më shumë, sepse bëhet fjalë për një politikan karriere, një ish president, ish kryeministër, personalitet publik, që përtej karrierës ka edhe vite mbi supe. Jemi mësuar të themi t’ja lëmë në dorë organeve ta hetojnë, por duhet një hetim i hollësishëm.
