Minister Albana Koçiu in the Health Commission did not give any concrete solution to the situation in the Emergency Department of the QSUT, which has been out of order for over 2 months due to a fire in the basement of the building.
Minister Koçiu stated that now the work is starting to restore the emergency service to its previous state. So during the months of February, March and early April, no action was taken to resolve this situation as soon as possible.
She said that the works are expected to be completed within the month of May. Thus, patients have to wait another 1 month to receive the service in the Cardiology or Internal Medicine Emergency.
The only solution given by the minister is for the patients to be transferred to the regional hospitals of Shkodra, Fier and to the Sanatorium to perform surgical interventions. The minister defined this as a normal situation, which will be resolved soon.
"The works are expected to be completed within the month of May. Work is starting to restore the emergency service to its previous state," she said./CNA
