The former leader of Lulzim Basha's DP, Enkelejd Alibeaj, has admitted that he expected a disappointing result in the May 14 elections.

Specifically, in his interview with journalist Nisida Tufa, Alibeaj stated that no one had the hope and dream of victory.

As always, he justified the failure with the division of the DP, which was caused by Alibeaj himself and his leader, Lulzim Basha.

Alibeaj has described this failure as a challenge to keep PD alive.

"We went to only 14 municipalities. We received 103 thousand votes, in my opinion it is a non-winning result and no one had the hope or dream of the opposite after 1 and a half years of war within us. Our challenge was not victory in the classical sense. The dignified appearance was the challenge and to keep PD alive.

The main danger of the PD was to absorb and superimpose the risk of becoming a non grata phenomenon that carried sanctions and reproaches as a moldy party unable to find the strength to reinvent itself.

Today, this risk no longer exists, especially after the election results. 100 or so thousand votes of Democrats who knew that we were not competing for victory.
DP has been under aggression from both inside and outside with the injustices that the government did, with the delay in court cases, with the CEC against, with a lack of finances and headquarters. This situation is not comfortable at all ", he said./ CNA.al
