I, like Karaman, cried because I wanted to go to my older brother's class, but she cuddled me and promised me that I would have a lot of fun in my class. He gave us so much love, that he made us go to school with pleasure... Then in high school I "found" the literature teacher, Bardhyl Dakli (by coincidence, they both lived in the same neighborhood and alley). He led me to the path of books...

But I remember all the teachers without exception, their dedication, patience, professionalism. How authoritarian the teachers were. After the policeman, the teacher was the one we "feared" the most. The teacher was the most important "authority" even for our parents...

Times changed. The school became more democratic, more open. The teacher became less authoritarian and less "scary" and the children recognized their rights more.

But along the way things fell apart, as in many ways. The relationship between rights and obligations was forgotten. In the classrooms, we hung only the signs with "Rights" and forgot about "Obligations". The authority and dignity of the teacher fell, both in front of students, in front of parents and in front of society. Today, teachers don't even dare to raise their voice in the classroom, because the students make videos of them and this is called "verbal violence". The video is sent to "investigative shows" and then the teacher is quickly thrown out on the street. While on the net we get the erzi publicly.

Today, doing the work of a teacher is very difficult. Most families think that it is the duty of the school to make their child smart, knowledgeable, educated and whatever.

Cooperation between parents and teachers is a challenge in itself. It is forgotten that in order to "build" a child, close family-school cooperation is needed.

As everywhere, even in schools there are teachers who probably do not deserve this title and this profession. Both in terms of the degree of professional training and integrity. It cannot be a teacher who directs students to go to after-school X who gives them a fee for this, or who invites students at home to take courses in the subject he teaches at school.

However, today I want to honor precisely the figure of the teacher, the teacher who must remain the hero of children and society.

Today I want to invite everyone to respect the figure of the teacher and raise it as high as possible in the eyes of the child.

Because I think that the school is not the building, the school is what happens inside the building. A building may indeed be very modern, but it does not mean that it is a good school.

In my first grade, we put a basin in the middle of the classroom when it rained because the roof leaked.

We warmed ourselves with a modest wood stove. But what warmed our souls the most was the teacher, who loved us and we loved her very much.
