Rare/ The little girl is born with 26 fingers, the family rejoices

A rare event has been recorded in India, where a baby was born with 26 fingers in total.

The baby girl, born at a hospital in Bharatpur, in the northern Indian state of Rajasthan, has seven fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot.

Doctors have described the baby's condition as a genetic anomaly.

" There is absolutely nothing wrong with having 26 fingers, but it is a genetic anomaly. Despite this, the girl is completely healthy ", said the doctor Dr. VS Sonny.

On the other hand, her family is overjoyed and has called her the incarnation of Dholagarh Devi, a popular local deity whose temple is located near the place where the girl was born.

Statues of the deity depict a young maiden with many hands. 

It is currently unknown if the family plans to have their newborn daughter undergo surgery to remove her fingers, but their enthusiasm suggests otherwise./ CNA
