Pink lakes are natural phenomena caused by high salinity, sunlight, and microorganisms such as the algae Dunaliella salina, which produce red pigment (beta-carotene) to survive.

Located mostly in Western Australia (e.g., Hutt Lagoon, Lake Hillier), these vibrant, often seasonal ecosystems are found throughout the world, ranging in color from pale red to bright pink.

Many of these lakes are located in areas with high salinity and can be unsafe for swimming, especially in those with high alkali content or extreme temperatures, but are wonderful to behold. 

Hillier, Australia – The famous pink lake that retains its color even when the water is taken in a glass.

Hutt, Australia – Changes colors from light pink to red, especially before sunset.

Grassmere, New Zealand – Known for its salt production and seasonal pink color.

Senegal – Also known as "Lac Rose", which turns pink especially during the dry season.

Natron, Tanzania – Alkaline lake where colors range from orange to pink due to microorganisms.

Salinas de Walvis Bay, Namibia – Pink salt flats with magnificent scenery and wildlife.

North Arm, USA – The northern part turns pink after salt increases.

Las Coloradas, Mexico – Pink salt lagoons near Yucatan, very photogenic.

Lemuria, Ukraine – Very salty salt pan with beautiful pink colors.

Tuz, Turkey – One of the largest lakes in the country, which turns pink at certain times.

India – The salt lake of Maharashtra that occasionally appears pink.
