The "Thoma Turtulli" Library in Korça, also called the children's library, has served over the years for endless generations who have gone and borrowed books to read. A library donated by philanthropist Thoma Turtulli for the children of the city of Korça.

This is what this library once looked like, which to this day is part of the nostalgia of many people who had their first experience in a library as they stepped onto the steps of this building that served their knowledge.

But today, perhaps frustrated by objects that serve as construction sites and to seek some attention on social media, photos of this building have been published that are real, but do not tell the truth. Ordinary comments, without information, with half-truths, but unfortunately also with lies.

What is actually happening with the "Thoma Turtulli" library in Korça?

The truth is that an investment is being made there and everything looks pretty good.

CNA received official information from the Municipality of Korça. Sources from this institution told CNA that it is a fund of 250 million old lek, which will be a complete investment for the reconstruction of this building. An investment, which is not simply and only a facade or roof repair, but complete. It will turn that children's library into an almost new building, which will also have technological spaces, a children's library or open places for reading. The reconstruction includes the facades, the roof, doors, windows and everything else.

For the curiosity of social media speculators, but especially for all those who still have memories of this institution, and perhaps are worried that the library will not be like it used to be, the doors and windows have been sent for full restoration and will be returned to their original state. So they have not been removed and will be thrown away, but with the full completion of the reconstruction of the building they will be returned to their place, as they used to be.

Currently, a temporary door has been installed to prevent unauthorized entry into the interior of the library, where work continues on every detail, while the area will also be fenced off during the complete reconstruction and the untruths that are being written high and low on social networks.

This is a very important investment for children and for the city of Korça and in the end we will have a new, reconstructed children's library, which will preserve one hundred percent of its architectural identity and everything else including doors and windows, or other objects that have been part of this building for decades will be restored after it is reconstructed due to the damage they have sustained over time./CNA
