Following the investigation into the fire at the fruit and vegetable market in Lushnje two days ago, a person suspected of being the perpetrator of the arson has been identified and declared wanted.

The police, in a statement, said that K. Ç., a resident of Durrës, has been declared wanted and work continues to identify another person suspected of being involved.

These two people are suspected of colluding with each other to set fire to the fruit and vegetable market in Lushnje and then fled the scene.

Lushnje/In-depth investigative actions to clarify the incident that occurred on 19.05.2026, at the fruit and vegetable market, in the "Xhevdet Nepravishta" neighborhood, where it was initially suspected to be an accidental event.

As a result of investigative actions, a citizen suspected of being the perpetrator of the arson has been identified and declared wanted, while work continues to identify another citizen involved in the incident.

On 19.05.2026, a report was received in the operations room of the Lushnja Police Station that a fire had broken out in the city's fruit and vegetable market.

Police and fire services immediately arrived at the scene, and within a few hours, they were able to extinguish the flames.

As a result of the fire, several stalls and products owned by several merchants were damaged.

Initially, it was suspected that the fire was caused by an electrical spark, but following in-depth investigative actions, carried out by the investigative group under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, it became possible to identify and declare wanted the citizen K. Ç., resident of Durrës, suspected as one of the perpetrators of the arson.

From the examination of the video footage, it appears that citizen K. Ç. appears near the market together with another yet unidentified citizen, who are suspected of having, in collaboration with each other, started the fire and then left the scene.

The police continue to work to capture citizen K. Ç., as well as to identify and capture the other citizen who appears in the footage.

The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office for further action.
