The Police Supervision Agency has finalized the "TURNI" operation, which resulted in the arrest in flagrante delicto of the General Patrol police officer at the Durres Police Station, Inspector AM, 21 years old.

He is suspected of "Abuse of office" and "Passive corruption of persons exercising public functions".

Citizens JK, 31 years old, and DM, 34 years old, were also declared wanted, suspected of "Smuggling of goods subject to excise duty with full or partial suspension of customs duties", "Theft committed in collaboration", and "Active corruption of persons exercising public functions".

It is suspected that these persons, in collaboration with each other, on January 27, at around 3:00 PM, extracted a significant amount of oil from the Tanzanian-flagged ship "AYAZANOYBYA", which was anchored and seized in Porto Romano, which was seized as material evidence by the Durrës Prosecution Office.

According to AMP, the investigation revealed that police officer AM, in exchange for a payment of 10,000 euros, given by citizen JK, allowed the removal of the amount of oil found on the ship, in collaboration with crew members.

Also, all procedural actions were carried out in cooperation, including re-examination of the ship, examination of film footage in Porto Romano Durrës, taking statements and taking samples for expertise in all ballast areas, and it resulted that the amount of oil that was in these areas at the time of seizure (date 12.01.2025) had been replaced with water.

Following the actions, 7 citizens were prosecuted at large, suspected of "Smuggling of goods subject to excise duty with full or partial suspension of customs duties", "Theft committed in collaboration", as follows;

3. ?A. Sh., 22 years old (Syrian citizen);

4. ? S. Sh., 25 years old (Syrian citizen);

5. ? HB, 47 years old (Syrian citizen);

6. ?SB, 53 years old (Egyptian citizen);

7. ?W. B., 42 years old (Syrian citizen).

The procedural materials will be referred to the Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK) for further investigations./ CNA
