On July 19, a serious incident was recorded in Durrës where a prisoner was said to have committed suicide by hanging himself in his cell.

It is about 44-year-old Roland Hasani, convicted of murder.

The dynamics of how the serious incident happened are not yet known, while more details are expected to be revealed in the future.

Regarding this serious event, journalist Artan Hoxha, on ABC Live, stated that the victim died as a result of a cardiac arrest and not from suicide. According to Hoxha, the deceased got into the ambulance with his own legs.

Hoxha added that due to the procedures, it often happened that the prisoners were not given specialized help in time.

"It does not fill my mind that this person committed suicide and got into the ambulance himself and died on the way. He got into the ambulance with his own legs. For this there are many witnesses there. There was another thing to do with it. Due to some decisions and prison regulations, people with health problems must fill out a special report. He died of cardiac arrest. There was a need for specialized help. It is not timely. We have abolished the death penalty and you are responsible for the lives of prisoners. In cases of cardiac arrest, you cannot leave it up to the guard to not open the cell door and let everyone inside. That endangers the security level. He must get permission from the prosecutor and take the doctor. Is there time and opportunity to save a person whose work is not waiting?" said Hoxha.
