Death of mother and son in Maliq/Topçiu: The city is in mourning today,

The Mayor of Maliq, Gëzim Topçiu, in a reaction to CNA, spoke about the tragedy of Maliq, where a mother and son lost their lives yesterday, as a result of the fire that engulfed their apartment.

Topçi expressed his condolences and declared full support for the family.

Further, Topçiu said that the institution will take additional measures to support families in need.

 

" A difficult situation not only for us as an institution but for all the citizens of Maliq, who express their condolences to the family. We hope that the girl will get well, we wish her a speedy recovery and of course the municipality will support the family with all the possibilities we have, to support her financially but not only. We will be by this family's side every day. The city is in complete mourning today. I console the family, I give them strength on behalf of the local government and let's hope that the girl will get well.

All expenses related to the ceremony, but not only, will be covered by the municipality. I will take some personal initiatives with businesses because that will be the fastest intervention, so as not to wait for legal procedures that sometimes take too long. The case is special and we must intervene as soon as we can. From the information I have, the family was part of the social service and the community center that we have there. I do not believe that we could not have had the necessary assistance, the case is unfortunate. We have numerous such cases that we treat, support and will continue to do so. These cases are not only a legal obligation but should be an alarm bell for all institutions.
