Tragedy in Maliq/ Fire Chief Reveals Details: We Found the Two Children Outside

The head of the fire service in Maliq, Sadik Halili, in a statement to the media, provided details of yesterday's tragedy in Maliq, where a mother and son lost their lives after a fire broke out in their apartment.

Halili said that when they arrived, they found no fire in the apartment, while they found the two minors outside the house.

As for the mother, the fire chief said she was found dead. As for the condition of the children, Halili said the 14-year-old, who also died, was found unconscious, while the 6-year-old was conscious.

 

" We received the notification at around 1:30 p.m. on October 19, from the police operations room. We immediately arrived at the scene within 1 minute since the distance is close. When we arrived at the scene, there was no fire inside the apartment and we found both children, the boy and the girl, outside. The boy was unconscious while the girl was conscious and at the kitchen door we found their mother suffocating and dead. We notified the ambulance, gave them first aid and sent them to the Korça hospital. An investigation group has been set up for this incident, of which I am also a part, to find the cause of the fire. At the moment we have two versions, inside the kitchen there was a wood stove lit while downstairs on the floor we found some lit matches. We cannot yet say the final clue ," Halili declared./CNA
