Caught with 60 packages of narcotics in the car/ Border Police arrests

The Kuftare Police finalized today the police operation codenamed "Modification", to prevent and crack down on a case of attempted drug trafficking towards Greece.

During intensive checks with modern logistical means and using anti-drug dogs, the Police found 60 packages of the narcotic Cannabis Sativa hidden inside a vehicle, with a total weight of 63.2 kilograms.

The driver of the vehicle where the narcotics were found and a female passenger were arrested.

During the physical search of the two citizens, the Police also found 1,890 euros.

The Border Police Services, as a result of detailed controls to prevent, identify and crack down on attempts to traffic narcotics, as a result of the intensification of control, based on risk analysis and police intelligence, in cooperation with customs authorities, have passed a detailed control on the second line, at the exit, the vehicle driven by citizen OK.

Through a thorough search, using modern search techniques, the Police services found 60 packages wrapped in plastic, inside which were suspected narcotics of Cannabis Sativa, with a total weight of 63.2 kilograms, hidden in a specially created secret location in the vehicle's fenders and chassis.

Following the first investigative actions, the Trafficking and Narcotics Investigation specialists of the Gjirokastër DVP arrested the following citizens in flagrante delicto:

-OK, 44 years old, resident of Fier, driver of the vehicle;

-E. Xh., 45 years old, resident of Fier, passenger in the vehicle where the narcotics were found.

As material evidence, 63.2 kilograms of Cannabis Sativa, 3 cell phones, the vehicle and 1,890 euros were seized.

The structures of the Gjirokastër DVP in cooperation with the Fier DVP under the direction of the Gjirokastër Prosecution are continuing to carry out investigative actions to identify other persons involved in this criminal activity.

The procedural materials will be forwarded to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Gjirokastra, for further action for the criminal offense of "Trafficking in Narcotics", committed in collaboration./CNA
