Arrested for theft and relations with minors/ Simon Gjoka sentenced to 12 years

The Lezha Court has sentenced Simon Gjoka, a 38-year-old man from Milot, to 12 years in prison. He was initially arrested in February of this year for cattle theft, and during the investigation it was discovered that he had had a relationship with a minor girl.

The prosecution requested his sentence of 18 years in prison, but benefiting from a 1/3 reduction in the sentence for summary judgment, Gjoka will serve 12 years in prison for the charges of "Theft committed in collaboration" and "Sexual relations with minors."

Despite his denials during the trial, the jury found him guilty of both criminal offenses.

In the testimony of the 13-year-old girl, taken in the presence of her mother and a psychologist, she admitted that she had a relationship with the 38-year-old and that everything had happened willingly, as stated in the investigation. She added that Gjoka had introduced her to other people, which raised suspicions of exploitation for prostitution.

Intimate photos were found on the minor's phone that had been sent to the defendant, who had a friendly relationship with her mother, a woman who sold candles near the Shna Ndout church in Laç.

Simon Gjoka was arrested in February 2025, after investigations revealed that he was involved in cattle theft in the village of Gajush and is also suspected of several other theft cases in the surrounding areas./ CNA
