Illegally transporting 4 immigrants/ Two people arrested

Tirana police have cracked down on a case of migrant trafficking towards EU countries.

As a result, two people were arrested who were collaborating to smuggle 4 immigrants illegally to EU countries.

AC and ET, who were caught on the Tirana-Durres road, have been arrested.

Tirana/After several weeks of investigations using special methods, the operation codenamed "Relay 4" is being finalized.

The 38-year-old was arrested while transporting 4 immigrants to Kukës who were intending to illegally cross into EU countries.  

His accomplice is also arrested. 

The vehicle in which the immigrants were transported and 2 cell phones were seized. 

Specialists of the Illicit Trafficking Investigation Section, as a result of investigations conducted over several weeks, using special methods, with the aim of documenting the criminal activity of 2 citizens who collaborated in the activity of providing assistance for illegal border crossing, finalized the operation codenamed "Relay 4". 

As a result of the operation, the following citizens were arrested: AC, 38 years old, resident of Tirana, and ET, 35 years old, resident of Kukës.   

On the "Tirana-Durrës" road, a vehicle with a 38-year-old driver and 4 emigrant passengers was stopped, who were being transported towards Kukës and would then be helped by the 35-year-old to illegally cross into EU countries. 

In cooperation with the Prosecutor's Office, investigations continue to identify and bring to criminal responsibility other citizens who may have been involved in this criminal activity.

The procedural materials were referred to the Tirana Prosecutor's Office for further action.
