Massive operation in Italy/ 17 people arrested, including an Albanian, large

A massive anti-drug operation has been carried out in the Lombardy and Piedmont area, where a trafficking network has been hit.

 Authorities have arrested 17 people and seized large amounts of narcotics and cash.

The operation involved the provinces of Brescia, Bergamo, Turin and Verbania, confirming once again how drug trafficking easily crosses provincial and regional borders, building networks capable of supplying different areas continuously and rapidly with drugs.

The arrested persons include 10 Italian citizens, 6 Moroccans and one Albanian, all with criminal records, accused, to varying degrees, of trafficking and possession of cocaine and cannabis with the intent to traffic.

During the operation, searches were carried out at homes. The seizure reveals the financial dimension of the investigation. The Carabinieri found 7 kilograms of hashish, 700 grams of cocaine and 84,500 euros in cash, believed to be proceeds from drug trafficking.

According to investigators' estimates, the group's monthly turnover exceeded 400,000 euros, with a continuous and difficult-to-trace flow of money.

The investigation, called "Grisù", began in April 2024 and focused specifically on the Pian Camuno industrial area in the province of Brescia, identified as one of the main centers for drug trafficking./ CNA
