The Economic and Financial Crimes Investigation Sector finalized the police operation "Smoking Kills" to crack down on a case of smuggling of goods for which excise duty is paid.  

The 48-year-old was arrested after being caught red-handed on the "Pogradec - Qafë Thanë" road axis, transporting 495 cartons of cigarettes without fiscal stamps, which he is suspected of having smuggled from Greece.

The 48-year-old, with a criminal record in the field of narcotics and smuggling.

Following the actions in this case, citizen DH, 48 years old, resident of Tirana, was arrested in flagrante delicto for the criminal offenses of "Smuggling of goods for which excise duty is paid or with full or partial suspension of customs or excise duties" and "Trading and transporting contraband goods". 

The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Korça, for further action. /CNA
