Body of 12-year-old boy exhumed, will undergo autopsy

The body of 12-year-old Leo Sadiku, who lost his life in a Tirana hospital on January 8 of this year, is exhumed.

Experts from the Institute of Forensic Medicine, accompanied by prosecutors from the Tirana Prosecutor's Office which is investigating the case, in the presence of the 12-year-old's family, have exhumed his body, which will undergo an autopsy.

Experts are expected to take samples from the 12-year-old's body, which will then be sent for examination to the Institute of Forensic Medicine to determine the cause of death.

The doctors at the University Hospital concluded that Leo Sadiku died as a result of acute myocardial infarction, while the victim's family members have filed claims accusing the doctors at the University Hospital of negligence in treatment.

Initially, after the death of the 12-year-old, the family members refused to perform an autopsy, but then, with the launch of investigations by the Tirana Prosecutor's Office, which is competent for the case, the procuring body decided to perform an autopsy.

The reactions of the family members have been continuous, protesting and demanding that the investigation be complete and the cause of death of the 12-year-old from the village of Pocestë in Maliqi be determined.
