Saved two children from drowning/ Greece ready to grant citizenship to Albanian

Levian Goga, the Albanian man who bravely jumped into the Arachthos River in Greece to save two young boys, is in the process of being granted Greek citizenship, according to government sources in the neighboring country. Greek media describe the government's move as a minimal tribute to his heroic act.

Due to the incident, the Albanian had breathing problems, a strong cough, and yesterday he visited a private doctor, who immediately sent him to the hospital for further tests.

As soon as the Greek Minister of Health was informed of this, he ordered that he be taken by an EKAB ambulance and transferred to the Arta Hospital, where he is being treated. His condition, according to initial information, is not worrying.

Earlier, the Albanian told Greek media how the incident happened.

"I was in a cafe. A kid came on a motorbike and shouted 'help, two kids are drowning in the river!' Without thinking, I ran. I took the car, went to the scene, climbed into the reeds, checked, I didn't see anything. I got into a boat with others. The first time I dived and didn't find anything. The second time, I went deeper, about eight meters. There I saw him. He was lying, motionless, as if he was dead. I pulled him out. Then they told me they had seen the second child too. I dived again, two, three times. I found him. Blood was flowing from his nose and mouth. I was scared. I didn't know the kids, I had no obligation, but I did what any father would do," Goga said with emotion in a telephone interview. /CNA
