Luxury villa worth around 500 thousand euros belonging to Albanian drug trafficker seized

Italian authorities today seized a luxury villa worth around 500,000 euros in Faenza, in the province of Ravenna, following drug investigations.

The property belongs to an Albanian citizen who is under investigation for drug trafficking, as reported by Italian media.

The seizure was carried out by the Guardia di Finanza on the orders of the Ravenna Prosecutor's Office following a financial investigation.

Investigators noticed that the Albanian had a suspicious match between his declared income and real wealth: while he had a villa worth half a million euros, he showed almost no regular spending on food, clothing or fuel and almost no ATM withdrawals.

Italian criminal police suspect that the legal income did not match the way the property was purchased and that the money may have come from illegal drug trafficking activity. /CNA
