"Why did you do this to me, we grew up together... and you injured him"/ Elis Rroshkodoli's mother speaks about her son's murder

2025-09-30 20:16:00, Kronika CNA

"Why did you do this to me, we grew up together... and you injured

The testimony of the mother of Elis Rroshkodoli, who was shot dead while drinking coffee in a bar in the city of Shkodra, is revealed.

This is the first time Lindita has spoken to the media, giving her version of the tragic event of August 30 when her son was cut short at the age of 36.

Lindita Rroshkodoli is a woman who was widowed in 1993 when her husband was shot in a bar while returning from a funeral.

"When the man was killed, he was with a friend drinking coffee. And his name was Hys. And they called Hys to come out as a witness. He didn't accept, he was afraid, or he felt pressure, I don't know. And they called my two brothers-in-law, the man's brothers. Okay, we won't do anything to you. Just tell me. At that time, the younger brother-in-law injured Hys and he became disabled. Now they've billed the boy," says Lindita.

The witness's injury was already an open wound for the Rroshkodoli family.

While seeking justice for the missing head of the family, she now had to face unspent blood. To escape the bloodshed, Lindita says she decided to send her sons to an asylum, first the eldest son Elis.

"A lot of sacrifices as a mother. I finished 8th grade. I was bullied, 'Take the kids and leave Shkodra.' Where would I go? I had no money, I had no passport. The boys grew up. I was more afraid. People were bullying me. They'll take my blood," she says.

She says she was always interested in blood feud reconciliation, but the opposing parties did not accept it.

"And I was forced to take him to the asylum. I had no one, no money. I was forced to take Elis to Belgium. Elis was in Belgium for 4 months. And the other son was going too," says Lindita.

But it wouldn't be long before another terrible event would befall Lindita's family.

The one who would lose his life this time would be Taulant, her youngest son, who, while preparing to join his older brother Elis in asylum in Belgium, falls victim to a serious car accident. In which, along with him, three other people also lose their lives.

"He got his passport. He asked a friend, he asked an aunt, he asked an uncle. He comes to Elbasan and says, 'Mom, I'm going to meet my aunt,' and my friends say, 'I don't know when I'll be back.' I told my mom, 'Okay, Mom.' When I got the news, my son had lost his life. There was a big accident in Labinot, Elbasan. Four people died. Among them was Taulanti, 23 years old," Lindita Rroshkodoli recounts.

It seems that fate was being more merciless with this mother, who had not yet taken off her mourning clothes for the loss of her husband, than with anyone else. For every time she tried to fix one thing, another hand seemed to be working to turn it upside down.

A dark fate that would haunt him in the future.

Me shumë vështirësi hyri përsëri.

"Elisi, sitting down, tells a friend that Geri went to your house for that girl. He goes and tells him why he did this to me, that they grew up together. You did this to me. And he injured him. At this time, the boy is arrested and spends 4-5 years in prison in Belgium, for this injury he caused," says the mother of Elis Rroshkodoli, who was killed on August 30, 2024.

Now left alone with her only son in prison in Belgium, although at a young age, Lindita confesses that she was forced to work long hours during the summer season to meet her son's needs in the cell where she was held.

Even up to 16 hours of tiring work. Just so that Elise would not lack anything where she was. Waiting for him to one day finish serving his sentence and return to her. The day came.

"I used to send money to my son in Belgium, because he would tell me: 'Mom, I'm out of money'. I worked 16 hours. He got out of prison. He was also deported to Belgium. He ended up in Albania. He made a fictitious marriage to change his last name. Like everyone does. He did it and passed. But he ran away to France," says Lindita.

But his stay in France would not be long. He would have to return to Albania soon, due to his passport expiring./ "Në Shënjestër"
