Police take stock of September: Over 20,000 fines for drivers, arrests and 175

The State Police today shared data on activity during the month of September.

As reported through an official announcement, during the month just ended, 175 cases of illegal construction were cracked down on throughout the country, 197 drivers were arrested for violating road traffic rules, 20,714 administrative measures were imposed on drivers caught in violation, and 50 cases of illegal border crossing were identified.

The Directorate for the Investigation of Cybercrimes and its sections in the regions cracked down on the creation of pyramid schemes in virtual space, 1 case of child pornography and cases of intimidation via social networks;

American law enforcement agencies near the Embassy contributed to the crackdown on a criminal network that was taking thousands of euros from citizens to illegally take them to the US or Canada;

– Korça Police also finalized an operation against the illegal transportation of immigrants;

Furthermore, the following were finalized:

– 20 anti-theft operations;

– 3 operations against the illegal organization of gambling;

– 1 operation in favor of food security;

175 cases of illegal construction were cracked down on across the country;

Criminal proceedings were initiated against 18 citizens who obstructed the movement of citizens and other vehicles with their vehicles;

During September, the implementation of the School Safety Package and the "Youth Safety" programs began;

Based on the experience gained in managing international events, and in implementing the tasks set out in a detailed action plan, the smooth running of the “Albania-Latvia” football match was guaranteed during September;

The Traffic Police Services, equipped with modern vehicles, have continued checks on all axes of the country, with the aim of ascertaining road violations that endanger the lives of road users.

In this context:

– 197 drivers were arrested, of which 128 for drunk driving and 69 for driving without a license;

– 329 driving licenses have been suspended for exceeding speed limits, driving under the influence of alcohol or for other violations of the Highway Code, for which this measure is provided;

– 20,714 administrative measures were imposed for speeding above the allowed rate, with the sanction of suspension of the driving license. In these cases, the drivers of vehicles paid double the maximum fine and were penalized with a deduction of 6 to 12 points from their driving license.

Border Police Services have intensified controls, with the objective of cracking down on illegalities at the border and attempts at illegal movement.

Assistance was provided at sea, in tourist and mountainous areas, to 35 citizens, mainly tourists and foreign visitors, who had been stranded, endangered by the waves or had lost their way to return to their destination;

21 boats were blocked after their drivers violated rules on documentation and the safety of vacationers.

The following have been identified and targeted:

– 50 cases of illegal border crossing;

– 14 cases of attempting to cross borders with false documents;

– 6 cases of non-declaration of amounts of money;

– 6 cases of drug trafficking.
