Anti-drug operation in Berat/ Searches in 15 apartments, weapons and explosives

The police in Berat have conducted an anti-drug operation, which resulted in the arrest of a group involved in the cultivation and sale of narcotics.

According to the data, 5 security measures of arrest and imprisonment have been executed.

Searches were also conducted in more than 15 homes in various villages.

Weapons, explosives and narcotic plants were seized during the operation.

"Within the framework of criminal proceedings and investigative actions carried out with proactive methods, by the Narcotics Investigation structures at the Berat Police Department, in cooperation with the Directorate of the Special Operational Force and the Berat Police Department's Operational Force, under the direction of the Berat Prosecutor's Office, the police operation codenamed "Cooperation" was finalized, to crack down on a group that cultivated and sold narcotics.

During this operation, the security measures "Arrest in prison", imposed by the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Berat, for the criminal offense "Production and sale of narcotics", committed in collaboration, and "Cultivation of narcotic plants", committed in collaboration, were executed against the following citizens:

MQ, 25 years old and SH (Q), 30 years old (brothers), residents of Poliçan;

AZ, 41 years old, resident of the village of Gostenckë, Skrapar;

EK, 33 years old, resident of Poliçan;

S. Ç., 28 years old, resident of the village of Jaupas, Skrapar.

Also, the mayor of the village of Jaupas, Skrapar, citizen S. Ç., 46 years old (brother of the arrested citizen S. Ç.), was criminally prosecuted while at large, for the criminal offense of "Abuse of office".

During the search of his apartment, 3 automatic firearms, 3 bullets suspected of containing explosives, and a water pipe that allegedly supplied the plot with 122 narcotic plants were seized.

During this operation, 15 searches of homes and other premises were conducted, where a total of 1 pair of shotguns, the narcotic cannabis sativa, 7 mobile phones and sums of money, which are suspected to have been derived from criminal activity, were seized.

"Investigative actions continue, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, to fully document the criminal activity of this group, as well as to identify and capture other citizens involved," the police statement said./ CNA
