A convict died yesterday evening in Rrogozhina prison.

The news has been confirmed by the General Directorate of Prisons, which announces that it is about Mariglen Alterziu, sentenced to one year and 4 months in prison.

According to the statement of "Prisons", since the start of the sentence, there has been no request from the deceased or the medical staff for possible health problems.

But, yesterday evening, around 8:30 p.m., the convict entered the sanitary facilities and after a few minutes was found unconscious on the floor.

The medical staff on duty was immediately called, who went to the patient at 20:38, for less than 3 minutes and gave him first aid.

At 21:15 the death was confirmed by the doctor on duty at the Health Center in Rrogozhin.

The General Directorate of Prisons informs you that on August 12, 2023, the citizen Mariglen Qani Alterziu, born on April 3, 1986, sentenced to 1 year and 4 months of imprisonment, passed away. The deceased has been placed in IEVP Rrogozhin since 13.01.2023.

Referring to the statements of the residents of the room as well as the service worker, around 8:30 p.m., the convict entered the sanitary facilities and after a few minutes was found unconscious on the floor. The health staff of the shift was immediately called, who went to the patient at 20:38, for less than 3 minutes and gave him first aid.

It was ordered to accompany him to the Rrogozhin Health Center through the police officers of the security group and the health staff, who were on duty. At 9:15 p.m., his death was confirmed by the doctor on duty at the Rrogozhin Health Center.

A team of the General Directorate and the specialists of SHKBB went to the scene and started the investigation regarding the circumstances of the death. From the preliminary assessment - as well as the statements of the health staff - a cardiac arrest is suspected, but this is expected to be confirmed by forensic experts.

From the general data, this prisoner is classified as a calm person and without any particular problems, - there is no evidence that there were conflicts or enmity with other people within the regime, and there is no data as a user of narcotic or psychotropic substances. Also, since the start of the sentence, there has been no request from the deceased or the medical staff for possible health problems.
