With a cannabis factory worth 11.8 million pounds/ 3 Albanians arrested in Scotland

Three Albanians have been arrested in Scotland after police discovered a cannabis factory worth £1.8 million in an abandoned shopping centre.

Two of the three Albanians had previously been ordered deported from the United Kingdom.

Elton Skenderi, 30, Gjovalin Toma, 31, and Eduard Daja, 39, appeared in the dock at the High Court in Glasgow today.

All admitted to being involved in the production of the class B drug, after thousands of plants were seized in September 2024.

All three were warned they would face long prison sentences when they are sentenced next month.

The cannabis factory was located in enclosed units in the former abandoned Forum Shopping Centre in Irvine, Ayrshire, Scotland.

The police were notified after receiving concerns about energy use in the abandoned premises.

A total of 3,058 cannabis plants were seized. The drugs had a street value of between £611,600 and £1,834,800. /CNA
