Foreign sailor lost his life in the Port of Durres/The ship's captain and engineer were arrested

Durrës police have arrested the captain and engineer of the ship where a sailor of Azerbaijani origin lost his life a few days ago in the Port of Durrës.

According to the announcement, the arrested are citizens AZ, residing in Azerbaijan, and citizen DL, residing in Georgia.

They are charged with the criminal offense of 'Violation of occupational safety regulations'.

"Following the information provided on 07.12.2025, on the loss of life of the citizen from Azerbaijan, JA, suspected after falling into contact with electric current, while working on the ship where he was a sailor, we inform that following the procedural and investigative actions regarding this case, the services of the Durrës Police Commissariat arrested the captain and engineer of the ship, respectively citizen AZ, resident in Azerbaijan, and citizen DL, resident in Georgia, for the criminal offense 'Violation of safety rules at work'", the police announcement states. /CNA
