A 41-year-old Albanian named Taulant Toma has escaped again from the cell where he is serving his sentence in an Italian prison.

As reported by Italian media, Toma had cut through the bars of his cell with metal rods and then escaped from prison to the Milan Opera House.

Toma is currently on the run and is being sought across the country. The Albanian, who was in a maximum security unit serving a sentence for a number of crimes, including robbery, managed to escape by using tied sheets to climb out of his cell.

According to investigators' reconstruction, the Albanian reached the 6-meter-high perimeter wall of the facility and, after climbing over it, escaped in the middle of the night.

Investigators, engaged in the search, are analyzing closed-circuit television cameras at the Opera to reconstruct the events and rule out any "help" offered to the prisoner in his escape plan.

Analysis of the video will also provide answers about possible contacts the Albanian had in the hours before his escape. Before the Milan incident, Taulant had managed to escape four other times.

The last was in February 2013, when he, along with another prisoner, escaped from a prison in Parma, only to be found and arrested a few months later in Belgium. Transferred to a prison not far from the city of Liege, Taulant also managed to escape. His first escape dates back to 2009, when he escaped from a prison in Terni. /CNA
