Sentenced to life imprisonment/ the 86-year-old ends his life

The General Directorate of Prisons informs the public that on 12.06.2023, at around 05:20 in the Hospital Center of Prisons, citizen Nj. C, born on 30.03.1937, (86 years old) sentenced to life imprisonment for committing the criminal offense of "premeditated murder and intentional murder" provided by article (78-22; 76-25) of the Criminal Code.

From the preliminary assessment, it is established that the patient's death was the result of hanging himself in the toilet of his room.

The prosecution and judicial police institutions are conducting investigations into the causes of the change in the life of citizen Nj. C.

– Citizen N. C, a prisoner with a life sentence, was admitted to the Prison Hospital on 01.06.2023, for cardiac problems coming from IEVP FDurrës, where he was accommodated in the Special Care Section, due to his health condition.

- The staff of the Hospital Center, at the moment of ascertaining the incident from the service employee, tried to give first aid to the patient, but without result.

- After ascertaining the fact, the family of the deceased as well as the investigative bodies were notified.

- A DPB team, by order of the General Director, has appeared in the country, to assess the situation and the actions of the staff, from 07.00 on 12.06.2023.
