The Albanian network in Germany, Italy and Holland is attacked/ 35 drug

A network of drug traffickers, composed mainly of Albanians, was hit during a police operation spanning three countries, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands, Europol and Eurojust, the two European bodies that supported the investigations and coordinated the intervention.

During the action, 35 suspects were arrested and 51 premises were checked in the countries involved. More than 600 police officers were involved in the operation. The criminal network is suspected of being responsible for the large-scale trafficking of cocaine and cannabis from South America to Europe and its further distribution throughout the European Union. According to the communique, the members of this group "are also known for the use of violence, including episodes of torture and kidnapping for the purpose of extortion."

From the data of the investigation, it appears that "the perpetrators were able to use significant financial resources that are suspected to have been obtained from previous drug trafficking activities. They had several logistical bases where the narcotics and proceeds from the traffic were stored, and where they could meet each other. They also had in their possession a large fleet of vehicles equipped with secret, sophisticated compartments as well as mobile phones equipped with encrypted applications for messaging and other services."

This network was also able to import from South America, during 35 episodes, 1 ton of cocaine and 1 ton of hashish, in total, in the period March 2020-June 2021, from the trading of which, it is thought that an income of more than 1 billion euros. During the investigation, it was possible to seize over 1 million euros in cash. In Germany, some suspects owned a luxury restaurant, a bar and a real estate agency, which were allegedly used to launder money from drug trafficking activities./ VOA
