"Metamorfoza" file/ 7 defendants go to trial

The Special Court accepted SPAK's request for the trial of 7 defendants in the "Metamorfoza" file.

Among the defendants in the case are the businessman Pëllumb Gjoka, the former chief of Operations, Oltion Bistri, and the former head of the Kukës Prosecutor's Office, Xhevahir Lita.

During the preliminary examination, these three defendants have also requested a shortened trial, a decision for which the court will express itself in the first session of the trial on the merits.

Businessman Pëllumb Gjoka is accused of the murder of Gjin Ndoji in 2020 as well as of cooperation in two other murders. While the former prosecutor Xhevahir Lita and the former head of the Police Operational Forces, Oltion Bistri, are accused of corruption and disclosure of secrets.

Also accused in this case are Astmer Bilali, Behar Bajri, Edmond Preka and the former police officer, Ardit Hasanbegaj.

The group was discovered after analyzing the messages they exchanged on the Encro Chat and SKY ECC apps. A number of immovable properties have been seized from the group, while some of their associates are still being sought, including Ervis Martinaj./ CNA
