US President Donald Trump has delivered his speech at the state banquet between two delegations in Beijing.

Trump said that the talks and meetings between the two delegations were positive and productive, while appreciating the reception he received in Beijing.

"We had extremely positive and productive conversations and meetings with the Chinese delegation earlier today, and this evening is another valuable opportunity to discuss among friends some of the things we discussed today ," the US president said.

Trump stressed that the US-China relationship is one of the most important in human history. He specifically mentioned the role of Chinese workers in building American railroads, underlining their contribution to the development of the United States. At the same time, he tried to highlight the common cultural elements between the two societies.

"Chinese people love basketball and wear blue jeans. American and Chinese people have a lot in common ," he added.

At the end of his speech, Trump invited Chinese leader Xi Jinping and Peng Liyuan, China's first lady, to the White House on September 24, 2026.

"We look forward to it. And now I would like to raise a glass and toast to the rich and enduring ties between the American and Chinese people," Trump said. /CNA
