Trump's visit to China/ Talks with Xi Jinping end after two hours

Bilateral talks between leaders Donald Trump and Xi Jinping have concluded. They lasted about two hours, twice the originally planned duration.

Chinese state media has reported that President Xi has warned of the potential for conflict with the US over Taiwan, with the leader reportedly calling it the most important issue in China-US relations.

"If handled well, bilateral relations can remain generally stable. If not handled properly, the two countries may clash or even enter into conflict, pushing the entire China-US relationship into a very dangerous situation," Xi said, according to state media.

He added that Taiwan independence is fundamentally incompatible with peace in the Taiwan Strait. According to him, peace in the Strait is the greatest common ground between China and the United States.

Beijing gave President Trump a grand welcome as he met with Chinese leader Xi Jinping at the entrance to the Great Hall of the People.

Part of the meeting were also technology tycoons such as Elon Musk and Tim Cook./ CNA
