American and Chinese delegations have gathered for a state banquet, the final item on a busy agenda for US President Donald Trump in Beijing.

The banquet also includes the leaders of the two superpowers, Donald Trump and Xi Jinping. Chinese leader Xi Jinping began his speech by saying that the US and China can help each other succeed and advance the well-being of the world. 

"The people of China and the people of the United States are both great peoples. Achieving the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and making America great again can go hand in hand. We can help each other succeed and advance the well-being of the whole world," he said, referring to a slogan well-used by the Communist Party and one of Trump's key phrases.

Xi Jinping said that the world is changing and turbulent, and added that the US-China relationship affects not only the 1.7 billion people living in the two countries, but also the more than 8 billion people living in the world. Both sides, he said, must rise to this responsibility.
