Zelensky again demands that Ukraine be allowed to strike deep inside Russia
President Volodymyr Zelensky

President Volodymyr Zelensky has repeated his call on Ukraine's allies to allow the state to use advanced Western weapons to strike deep inside Russia. The call came after an Israeli attack in Kharkiv killed three people and injured at least 36 people.

Two boys, ages 11 and 15, were among the victims, authorities said.

Russian forces reportedly used FAB-500 bombs to attack a nine-story residential building in Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city. These types of bombs are powerful weapons that Russia is increasingly using to attack civilian targets inside Ukraine.

"Tragically, there are victims, including children, and more people are trapped under the rubble," Zelensky wrote on X, attaching a video from the attacked site.

The governor of Kharkiv, Oleh Synyehubov, meanwhile stated that the fourth floor of the building was hit by bombs, causing a fire. After this attack, there was a power outage in parts of Kharkiv.

The attack in Kharkiv was the third this week. At least four people were killed in the two previous attacks in the city center, which were carried out with bombs and rockets.

"The partners see what is happening every day," Zelensky wrote, adding that "under such circumstances, any delay in their decision means that Russia will use dozens or even hundreds of bombs against Ukraine."

"Their decision saves the lives of our people," he said.

Ukraine has long asked its allies for permission to use long-range missile systems to target civilian targets deep inside Russian territory in order to destroy Moscow's ability to strike civilian and energy infrastructure in Ukraine .

However, the United States, Britain and other Western countries have so far refused to allow such attacks, arguing that these attacks could escalate the conflict./ REL
