Yellen: The US banking system "remains safe"

A week after the second largest bankruptcy in the US banking system, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen told the Senate Finance Committee that the nation's banking system "remains strong" and Americans "can be confident" of their deposits.

Ms. Yellen is the first official in President Biden's administration to face lawmakers over the decision to protect unsecured money at two failed regional banks, a move some observers have criticized.
