Peace Corps volunteers help the community in Montenegro

Peace Corps volunteers operate in Montenegro, who serve in education and health, but also in organizational promotion in different communities. One of them is Eric, who is contributing to the "Bedri Elezaga" Primary School in the Municipality of Ulcinj.

Mr. Eric is part of a group of volunteers from the United States of America serving communities in Montenegro as part of the Peace Corps.

Mr. Eric conducts English language lessons with the students of the "Bedri Elezaga" Primary School in Katërkollë of Ulcinj. He told VOA that he feels like an integral member of the community.

"Being part of the community is very important to Peace Corps volunteers. I have been living and working in this village for two years now and I feel like a member of the community. I live in the village and work at the school," says Mr. Eric.

Student Suela Rexha, who follows volunteer Eric's teaching, appreciates his work which has an extremely good impact.

"With the arrival of teacher Eric at the school, I think he had a very good impact. In our school, students have had an increase in learning English. I would say that our class has made a remarkable difference in learning English. In this context, the teacher Eric shared a part of the American culture with us, while we shared a part of our Albanian culture with him", says the student Rexha.

Even the director of the Elementary School, "Bedri Elezaga", Mustafa Bardhi, notes the good work of the volunteer Eric, who brought innovation to the teaching process.

"All of us as a staff have become familiar with Eric. He is a quiet person who adores nature and a person who brought many innovations by developing the learning process even outside the walls of the school. With Eric we have managed to carry out many good projects and we have managed to make even the students in a way more satisfied and more complete with knowledge thanks to the experience and thanks to the commitment of Eric", said Mr. Bardhi.

Educational institutions show gratitude for the partnership and for the opportunity that American Peace Corps volunteers offer their experience in creating generations of students with more special knowledge./ VOA
