Vjosa Osmani: I aim for another term as president of Kosovo

Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani expressed today her ambition for another term as head of state.

In an interview for REL, Osmani stated that through another mandate he intends to continue the good work for the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo and for the country.

"First of all, I want to congratulate all the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo for the example of an extremely strong electoral democracy that they have proven for the umpteenth time in a row, and as you said, despite the fact that the elections have been repeated several times during this year, because we also had local elections, the citizens showed that Kosovo organizes model elections. I would say model not only for our region, but also beyond, with an extremely strong democracy, with regular elections, which are according to the highest democratic standards that anyone can ask for.

Not coincidentally, this is one of the elements that has consistently raised Kosovo in international indices for the strengthening of our democracy, achievements of which we are extremely proud, and I am also very proud of the way everything went yesterday, with the turnout of the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo, their massive participation, and as I said yesterday when I voted, the greater the participation, the clearer the path forward. And, as we are already seeing from the results, we will very soon have both a constituted parliament and an elected government.

I intend to continue the good works for the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo, for our country. I think that the many achievements and good works that are waiting for us and are at the door should be continued, because it is the best interest of our Republic. However, I am also fully aware that this does not depend only on this assessment, but depends on the two rights of the deputies of the Republic of Kosovo, who must decide, I would say, on two fundamental points. The first is whether they want to protect the best interest of the Republic, and the second is whether they want to listen to the will of the citizens", - Osmani declared. /CNA
