Hurricane "Helen" in the USA/ The number of victims reaches 44

At least 44 people have lost their lives after "Hurricane Helen" hit Florida and the southeastern states of the USA.

In areas as diverse as Tallahassee, Florida to Charlotte, North Carolina, heavy rains and strong winds caused massive damage, with more than 4 million households without power.

According to international media, 20 victims were reported in South Carolina, 15 in Georgia, 7 in Florida, one in North Carolina and one in Virginia.

Hurricane Helene made landfall in northwest Florida on Thursday afternoon as a Category 4 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale, with sustained winds of 145 mph, according to experts, the strongest hurricane to ever hit the area.
