With 66 votes in favor and 44 against, Albulena Haxhiu, candidate of the Self-Determination Movement, was elected Speaker of the Kosovo Assembly.

In her first speech in the Assembly, she stated that the Assembly is the political home of citizens, of those who agree and those who think differently.

Haxhiu emphasized that the differences between them may be real, but the responsibility is shared.

"The Assembly is the political home of our citizens, of those who agree and those who think differently. My duty is to make the Assembly function. I will ensure that everyone finds their space with the same dignity and respect.

I know that we came with different political histories, with beliefs that do not match, but we have a common duty to serve citizens with honesty and vision.

"Our differences are real, but we share responsibilities."
