"Trump backed down"/ Tehran denies talks with the US

US President Donald Trump backed away from a threat to attack Iranian energy facilities after being informed that Iran would respond by hitting all power plants in West Asia, the Iranian Fars news agency reported, citing a source.

The Iranian news agency also reported that there is no direct communication between Iran and the United States, nor through third parties or intermediaries, contradicting Trump.

While the Tasnim news agency reported that the Strait of Hormuz will not return to pre-war conditions, warning that energy markets will remain in turmoil and that negotiations with the United States are not underway, which reinforced indications that there is currently no diplomatic channel between the two sides.

Tasnim also claimed that Donald Trump backed down from plans to attack critical Iranian infrastructure under pressure from financial markets. At the same time, Tehran is reportedly saying it will continue to defend itself until it achieves a strong deterrent./CNA
